That wasn't the case a year ago, when Kansas City managed 27 sacks the entire season.
The earlier the better, too.
Notes: DB Brandon Flowers (knee), FS Kendrick Lewis (ankle), FB Anthony Sherman (knee), OG Jeff Allen (groin), and TEs Travis Kelce (knee) and Anthony Fasano (ankle) did not practice Monday. ... The Chiefs worked out Sunday and Monday but did not plan to begin preparing in earnest for Sunday's game against the Giants until Wednesday. "We worked on some things we needed to work on," Reid said.
KANSAS CITY,Jerseys NBA China, Mo. (AP) — The Kansas City Chiefs are all about fast starts these days.
"I think confidence starts from within," cornerback Sean Smith said. "If you're not confident in the way you prepare and work and study, I don't know what to say about you. But our confidence started back in OTAs and minicamps. We knew we've had something special here for a long time."
Then last Thursday night in Philadelphia, the Chiefs got a field goal from Ryan Succop in the opening minutes before a pick-six by safety Eric Berry gave them a 10-point lead. That seemed to deflate the Eagles and their high-powered offense, which never managed to get on track. The Chiefs stoically put the game away in the second half for a 26-16 victory.
Just like that, the Chiefs were off to a 3-0 start. Brimming with confidence, too.
They've started fast in games, taking the lead in the first quarter of each of them, and carrying that advantage into halftime twice. And they've started fast on the season, beating the Jaguars, Cowboys and Eagles to surpass their win total from all of last year.
While that may seem like something to scoff about so early in the season, consider that Kansas City never led a game in regulation until Week 10 a year ago.
The Chiefs actually trailed in the opener at Jacksonville when a blocked punt resulted in a safety, but they bounced back to score three touchdowns before halftime. They coasted the rest of the way to a 28-2 victory that was every bit as dominant as the final score indicated.
"I like to score first — that's a good thing — but that doesn't always happen," Reid said. "I don't know if that stat necessarily carries over to wins — there are some other ones that are more important — but it surely doesn't hurt."
In their home opener against Dallas,Cheap Arizona Cardinals Hoodies, the Chiefs marched downfield for a touchdown in the game's opening minutes. It proved to be a critical score, too, wholesale jerseys, because neither offense did much the rest of the way. Kansas City wound up holding on for a 17-16 victory.
One of the biggest reasons for the early success in game is turnovers. The Chiefs were minus-24 in differential last season, last in the league, and has six turnovers in a Week 4 loss to San Diego. But through their first three games under Reid,Cheap Jerseys Store, they've picked off four passes and picked up five fumbles, and their plus-nine differential is the best in the NFL.
"Points and turnovers are the two most important things that you have as a football team," Reid said. "If you turn the ball over you're losing football games, and if your takeaway ratio is high then normally you're winning. Those are two important stat points."
Now,NCAA Baseball Jerseys, the rest of the league is starting to see it.
Chiefs coach Andy Reid insisted that he'd rather score most than first, but he also said there's value in getting on the board early. It helps build confidence throughout the team, while also allowing players to settle in for the rest of the game.
Especially for a team that struggled to start fast last season.
"We're not looking at the past," running back Jamaal Charles said. "It's the future now, so whatever we need to do to sustain drives and put points on the board for our team helps a lot."
Very little about the Chiefs this season resembles last year, though. That team never had a lead in regulation until Week 10 against Pittsburgh, tying the 1929 record of the Buffalo Bisons for most games without ever leading in regulation.
Another one is sacks — the Chiefs have 15 of them already this season, wholesale jerseys china, two more than second-place Dallas for the league lead. Those sacks have not only kept opposing teams for putting drives together early in games, but have also given the Chiefs splendid field position.

Saints running backs Mark Ingram and Alvin Kamara are getting along famously – at least by appearances.

They stand side-by-side in the locker room for joint postgame interviews Tyron Smith Jersey Womens , celebrating one another’s successes. And they stood together on the sideline – as fans – at the Sugar Bowl earlier this week.

”I know there’s definitely egos” in pro sports, Kamara said this week as the Saints prepared to open the playoffs Sunday against Carolina. ”I think people questioned it a lot, like, `Are they really that close? They seem close, but are they really that close?’ But it’s really one of those things where we’re actually close and we care about each other and we care about more than just the football player part of it. I genuinely care about the dude.”

It’s rare for one team to have two running backs capable of gaining 1,500 or more yards from scrimmage, as each did this season. In fact, that’s never happened before.

But in professional sports, contracts are based largely on production, and players at the same position are competing for opportunities to stack up yards and touchdowns. That would apply more so now to Ingram LeSean McCoy Jersey Youth , whose contract expires after the 2018 season.

Kamara was well aware that jealousy could have eroded chemistry in New Orleans’ backfield as he – a rookie – blossomed quickly and became a focal point of the offense. After all, Ingram was a 2009 Heisman Trophy winner for an Alabama national title squad and a 2011 first-round draft choice by New Orleans who made his first Pro Bowl when Kamara was playing for a junior college in 2014.

Instead, what Kamara said he found in Ingram was a consummate teammate – and a friend who has eased his transition to life as a pro and in a new city.

”It’s not just one of those things where we’re cool in pads … where it’s like, we got a game so we’ve got to function,” Kamara said. ”We’re cool, like, off the field, like, for real – like, legit.”

Their cooperation not only has been rewarded individually Authentic Adam Boqvist Jersey , but has played no small role in propelling the Saints to their first playoff appearance in four seasons.

Ingram had the best – and perhaps healthiest – season of his career. His 1,124 yards rushing, 416 yards receiving, 12 total touchdowns and 1,540 yards from scrimmage were all career highs and he was named to his second Pro Bowl.

Kamara, meanwhile, put up numbers worthy of rookie-of-the-year consideration: 728 yards and eight TDs rushing, 826 yards and five TDs receiving, and a 106-yard kickoff return for a 14th total touchdown.

Ingram said sharing the workload might have helped him not just stay healthy, but also fueled his competitive juices. Ingram’s 230 carries were at least 42 fewer than any of the four players who rushed for more yards than he did. His 4.9 yards per carry matched that of yardage leader Kareem Hunt of Kansas City. Kamara Authentic Thomas Rawls Jersey , who rushed only 120 times, averaged a league-best 6.1 yards per carry.

”Being fresh … obviously has benefits for both of us being healthy at this point in the season,” Ingram said. ”We just thrive off each other. There’s no animosity. Everything’s genuine. I want him to do well. He wants me to do well.

”I want to be the best. He wants to be the best. That’s what we work for and that’s why we push each other,” Ingram added. ”That’s just healthy competition. That’s the reason why we’re at where we’re at now.”

As their yards and touchdowns piled up, they always appeared eager to celebrate one another’s success, even speaking to reporters in tandem. That was refreshing to the linemen who block for them.

”It’s just a nice cohesiveness that they’ve had,” left tackle Terron Armstead said. ”Their success has had a direct correlation to the success of the team.”

On New Year’s Day, Ingram went to the Sugar Bowl to watch Alabama defeat Clemson in a College Football Playoff semifinal. Standing next to Ingram on the sidelined was Kamara, who had begun his college career at Alabama, but dropped out and later landed at Tennessee Youth Brian Allen Jersey , one of Alabama’s Southeastern Conference rivals.

”Everybody just looks at me and him because we’re in the same backfield. We compete for carries and compete for touches,” Ingram said. ”But at the end of the day, I just want him to do well. I just want him to be the best he can be and he wants the same for me. We’re just there for each other. That’s my dude. If he needed me outside of football, we’re brothers for life.”

The Buffalo Bills began restocking their offensive line in free agency by reaching agreements to sign center Russell Bodine and tackle Marshall Newhouse.

Bodine agreed to a two-year deal after making 64 consecutive starts through his first four NFL seasons with Cincinnati Bengals. Listed at 6-foot-3 and 308 pounds, he was selected in the fourth round of the 2014 draft out of North Carolina.

The Bills have a need at center after returning starter Eric Wood was diagnosed with a career-ending neck injury in January.

Newhouse agreed to a one-year contract and has seven seasons of NFL experience split over four teams. He started 14 games at right tackle with the Raiders last season.

Listed at 6-foot-3 and 330 pounds, Newhouse was selected by Green Bay in the fifth round of the 2010 draft and spent three seasons playing both the right and left tackle spots with the Packers.

Buffalo traded starting left tackle Cordy Glenn to Cincinnati last week and lost backup tackle Seantrel Henderson in free agency.

The Carolina Panthers have released running back Jonathan Stewart.

Stewart became the franchise's career rushing leader in 2017 Marquez Valdes-Scantling Jersey Packers , finishing with 7,318 rushing yards. Stewart's 1,699 rushing attempts are also the most in franchise history, while his 58 touchdowns (51 rushing, seven receiving) are second in franchise history.

"Jonathan played the game the way you want. He brought an element of toughness as a runner that set the tempo for our team," coach Ron Rivera said in a statement. "He is a great pro, and I appreciate who he is as a young man and thank him for the contribution he made."

Stewart helped Carolina to five playoff appearances 49ers Game Jerseys , and holds franchise records for career rushing yards (474), rushing attempts (101) and rushing touchdowns (five) in the playoffs. His three rushing touchdowns in the 2015 postseason are the franchise high.

Stewart played all 10 seasons with the Panthers after being drafted by Carolina in the first round in 2008 out of Oregon.

LOS ANGELES — The Los Angeles Kings are facing a must-win scenario in Game 3 of their first-round Stanley Cup Playoffs series against the Vegas Golden Knights at Staples Center on Sunday night.

The Kings wasted a record-setting performance by goaltender Jonathan Quick in their 2-1 double-overtime loss Friday night at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. With the Kings down three of their regular defenseman including Drew Doughty, who was suspended for a hit on Vegas’ William Carrier in Game 1, Quick stopped 54 shots to set a franchise record for most saves in a playoff game.

It was all for naught as Erik Haula ended the match at 15:23 of the second overtime to give Vegas a 2-0 series lead. Paul La Due registered his first career playoff goal with a power play tally for Los Angeles.

Despite entering the series with an advantage at the center position with veterans Anze Kopitar and Jeff Carter, Los Angeles has been stifled by the Golden Knights tenacity and speed. Vegas has prevented traffic in front of goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury, allowing him to see the Kings’ attempts, limiting the number of dangerous opportunities at the Golden Knights net.

Fleury has stopped 58 of 59 shots Authentic Kentavius Street Jersey , a statistic that if maintained will lead Vegas into the next round.

Los Angeles coach John Stevens minimized the tough double-overtime loss by saying his team now has to replicate what Vegas did in winning its first two home games.

“There’s momentum in a series,” Stevens said. “You can lose 7-0 the first night like the Philadelphia Flyers did and come back to win and it’s still 1-1. They won two games at home, a lot of people would say they’re supposed to win at home.

“Vegas has been a good team at home all year, so now we get to go home and get to work. It’s not devastating. We come in here to win a hockey game and we didn’t win. Because of double overtime, you just expend a lot of energy. It doesn’t matter if you win in regulation or in quadruple overtime. It still counts as one.”

Carter knows it is no easy task to beat the Golden Knights, who resemble far more like a Stanley Cup contender than the expansion team they are.

“They are a speedy, highly skilled team Don Larsen Jersey ,” Carter said. “They have no holes in their games and we need to be far better to create chances.”

The Kings will be boosted by the return of the former Norris Trophy winner Doughty and a possible return by another veteran defenseman in Jake Muzzin, who missed the first two games with an upper-body injury.

With Vegas in command of the series, coach Gerard Gallant expects Los Angeles’ best game of the series as his team attempts to put a stranglehold on their inaugural postseason series and wonders what effect the double-overtime affair will have on both teams.

“The Kings are going to come out real hard,” Gallant said. “I don’t know what Game 2 is going to take out of both teams. I don’t think the pace will be quite the same as it was because the guys are pretty tired and beat up from five periods of hockey on Friday. They are going back to their building and I am sure they are going to come out hard and play real hard. Los Angeles is a great hockey team. It’s a great series so far.”

Haula, whose game-winning goal was his first career overtime score, mapped out the strategy in the hopes of moving one win away from a series victory Sunday night.

“We just keep playing the same way,” Haula said. “We did our job at home and now we go there and go to their building. It’s going to be harder. They are going to be better and we know that. We have to be better and it’s going to be a grind for sure. They are going to come out really hard in their home building and that’s what you can expect. We have to be a little bit better again.”

Golden Knights defenseman John Merrill said he believes if his team maintains the style of play that has been problematic for Los Angeles Lawrence Taylor Jersey Youth , his team can emerge with a third straight win.

“We have done a lot of good things in the first two games of the series,” Merrill said. “We are a fast team and when we have everyone skating it is a very good thing for us. We need to continue to do the things that helped us win and add a little more to it.”

Star receiver Odell Beckham Jr. showed another sign he is prepared to put aside his contract talks for now.

Beckham reported with fellow veterans for the opening day of Giants training camp. Beckham didn't talk to the media Wednesday as veterans arrived at the Giants' headquarters adjacent to MetLife Stadium.

The 25-year-old Beckham will earn $8.5 million entering the fifth and final season of his rookie contract. If the Giants do not designate him as a franchise player Youth Antonio Callaway Jersey , he's eligible to become an unrestricted free agent in 2019. He wants to be the NFL's highest-paid player.

First-year coach Pat Shurmur plans to be cautious how his three-time Pro Bowl receiver will be used, especially in training camp. Beckham broke his left ankle in Week 5 and never returned as the Giants finished 3-13.

"As we go forward, he's coming back from injury," Shurmur said. "We're going to continue to be smart about what we give him from the start."

Shurmur punted when asked if Beckham's contract status would be a distraction to the team.

"We don't talk about contracts," he said. "The focus for me is to keep the players thinking about football."

Shurmur takes over a team ranked 31st in total defense and 21st in offense last season. The offense should benefit from running back Saquon Barkley, the second overall pick in the draft.

"He's very smart, he gets it," said Shurmur of the Penn State standout. "In a lot of ways that's a great place to start. He's super-talented. The thing that stuck out to me is he embraces work. The mind is always looking for an easy way out and he doesn't."

The Giants significantly upgraded their offensive line by signing left tackle Nate Solder from New England. That moves Ereck Flowers, the Giants' top pick in 2015 Su'a Cravens Jersey Elite , to right tackle. Flowers struggled to protect Eli Manning in the passing game.

Second-round pick Will Hernandez out of UTEP should vie for a spot at guard.

The defense, which will have a 3-4 look this season under new coordinator James Bettcher, will be bolstered by the additions of free-agent linebackers Alec Ogletree, Kareem Martin and Connor Barwin, who was signed Wednesday.

Manning returns for his 15th year and is buoyed by the prospects of throwing to a healthy Beckham; second-year tight-end Evan Engram; the speedy Sterling Shepard, who caught 59 passes as a slot target; and Barkley.

"I'm excited about the guys who are on this offense." Manning said. "The receivers, the offensive line, the playmakers we have. It looks good on paper, but we have to make sure we do what we need to do on the field.

"There's always expectations and no one has higher expectations than I do. You have to make the most of it each and every season."

Never in the 92-year history of the franchise had the Giants lost 13 games in a season. For the first time in 39 seasons Cheap Customized Buffalo Bills Jerseys , they will be led by a new head coach and general manager (Dave Gettleman) after Ben McAdoo and GM Jerry Reese were fired.

Gettleman, however, is undergoing treatment for lymphoma.

NOTES: Olivier Vernon, who will move from DE to a pass-rushing outside LB, said he will leave the national anthem policy to the commissioner and the NFL Players Association. Vernon was the only Giants player to take a knee every game last season. . Former special teams coordinator Tom Quinn is back. He is helping the club while current coordinator Thomas McGaughey deals with "health issues." ...There is some concern whether supplemental draft pick Sam Beal will play this season. The cornerback hurt a shoulder in rookie practices this week and might need surgery.

(Corrects spelling of Saquon Barkley)

New Patriots cornerback Jason McCourty has trouble settling on one thing that excites him most about finally playing alongside twin brother Devin next season.

He’s looking forward to everything – from sitting in team meetings to sweating through offseason workouts.

That’s because Jason wants to soak up every moment of a dream they’ve shared since he was drafted by the Tennessee Titans in 2009 and Devin went to the Patriots in 2010.

”I’m excited just about the opportunity just to be able to now share the field with Devin. Just to be able to do something that we grew up loving,” Jason McCourty said Tuesday. ”With this opportunity you think back to being 10 years old, waking up early to head to a Pop Warner game.”

It took nearly 10 seasons, but it’s finally happening after Jason’s trade from Cleveland to New England last week. It’ll be the first time the 30-year-old brothers have shared the field since they played at Rutgers.

The reunion almost occurred after last season when Jason was released by the Titans. But the Patriots were already set at cornerback after they signed Stephon Gilmore to a multiyear deal to start alongside Malcolm Butler.

”In my mind I was like, I don’t know if this thing will ever happen http://www.redskinsauthorizedshops.com/authentic-derrius-guice-jersey ,” McCourty said.

Jason spent the 2017 season with the Browns and was preparing to be released this offseason after a call from Cleveland’s front office.

But with Butler departing New England to sign with the Titans just days earlier, Devin – one of the Patriots starting safeties – seized on news. He texted Patriots assistant Brian Flores, asking ”How do we get J to New England?”

Devin also reached out to coach Bill Belichick directly, but by that time a trade was already being worked out. About an hour later, Jason was in the gym when he got a call from his brother.

”He was like, `Don’t worry about it. We’re going to trade for you and you’re coming to New England,”’ Jason recalled. ”I thought he was joking around. But then, five minutes later I get a call from (Browns general manager) John Dorsey in Cleveland. … It was a roller-coaster type of day.”

Jason, who has never competed in a playoff game Adidas Mark Stone Jersey , goes from a winless Browns team to a perennial Super Bowl contender and defending AFC champion in New England.

He shared vicariously in Devin’s successes, which included two Super Bowl wins. Jason become acquainted with New England players over the years and expects those relationships will help him transition to his third NFL team.

He’ll bolster the Rutgers contingent on the Patriots’ roster, which also includes safety Duron Harmon and receiver Kenny Britt.

The brothers will bring their knowledge accrued separately during the past decade.

”That’s probably one of the most intriguing parts of us teaming back up at this point,” Jason said. ”How differently we see things or how much alike. I think that’s probably going to be intriguing for the coaches as well.”

Green Bay Packers left tackle David Bakhtiari avoided a serious injury after being carted off the field at practice during the weekend.

Bakhtiari was hurt during the Family Night practice on Saturday at Lambeau Field. He walked to a cart with his left shoe removed before being driven back to the locker room.

Bakhtiari twisted his ankle while retreating in pass protection. He likened it to a "typical basketball" injury.

"It was weird," Bakhtiari said Monday, when the Packers returned to practice following a day off. "It didn't really feel bad, just kind of putting some weight into it and it just told me no. That was kind of (why) I was worried, but it should be all right."

Coach Mike McCarthy said Bakhtiari's injury was "not of the long-term nature." Bakhtiari will be evaluated as he goes through rehab.

"Obviously, you don't want to get hurt but Authentic Keke Coutee Jersey , thankfully, nothing catastrophic, nothing that is going to derail anything moving forward," Bakhtiari said.

Good thing for the Packers, because he is one of their most important players given his role as quarterback Aaron Rodgers' reliable blind-side protector. He has been voted a second-team All-Pro each of the past two seasons.

Starting right tackle Bryan Bulaga just returned to practice on a limited basis following a right ACL injury that knocked him out at midseason last year.

Without those two, Kyle Murphy probably will start at left tackle and Jason Spriggs likely will start at right tackle for Thursday's first preseason game, at home against Tennessee. Murphy started three games last season before a foot injury ended his season. Two of those came at left tackle.

Green Bay placed inside linebacker Jake Ryan on injured reserve on Monday Redskins Pernell McPhee Jersey , likely ending his season. One of the team's best run-stoppers suffered a significant right knee injury in practice last week.

In that same practice, safety Kentrell Brice also was driven off the field on a cart, having re-injured the right ankle that required season-ending surgery last year. Brice, who had been taking first-team reps in the secondary, took part in some individual drills on Monday.

"It wasn't broken, so it was a positive outlook," Brice said. "Once they told me it wasn't fractured or broken Jim Bunning Jersey , I just started walking on it. I figured sprain, bruise, something like that. I'll be all right."

On Saturday Justin Bethel Color Rush Jersey , Thunder forward Paul George told reporters about an alter-ego he calls ”Playoff P.” On Sunday, he gave the media, his teammates and the Utah Jazz a formal introduction.

He scored 36 points to help Oklahoma City defeat Utah 116-108 in Game 1 of their Western Conference playoff series Sunday night.

”That’s his new name?” seemingly perplexed teammate Carmelo Anthony asked with a smile.

George lived up to it. He set an Oklahoma City playoff record with eight 3-pointers, blowing past the previous mark of five. He made eight of 11 shots from long range, and 13 of 20 shots overall.

It was his first playoff game with the Thunder since being acquired in a trade with the Indiana in the offseason. He had averaged more than 27 points per game in the playoffs for the Pacers the past two years.

”I’m going to bring it to that level every night,” George said. ”Obviously, I was hot tonight, but that’s the level I’m going to bring every night.”

Russell Westbrook had 29 points Cheap Justin Jones Jersey , 13 rebounds and eight assists and Anthony added 15 points for the Thunder, who will host Game 2 on Wednesday.

Westbrook, who seemingly was Oklahoma City’s only scoring option for much of last season, appreciated the help.

”When he’s aggressive, man, it changes the game for us,” Westbrook said. ”You saw that tonight. He had it going. Our job is to make sure we find him, make it easy for him. As long as he stays aggressive Customized Philadelphia Eagles Jerseys , we’ll be a better team.”

Many of George’s makes were contested. His success made it difficult for the Jazz to cover other players.

”He made a couple and we changed up what we were doing, and he went to something else,” Jazz coach Quin Snyder said. ”He went to pick-and-roll and he made a couple more, and then we tried to take him and he passed the ball.”

Utah doesn’t expect George to keep making those tough shots.

”If those shots start to affect you, then the whole game plan goes away,” said rookie Donovan Mitchell, who led the Jazz with 27 points and 10 rebounds. ”So we just kept sticking with it, and hopefully Josh Jackson Color Rush Jersey , he doesn’t go 8 for 11 the rest of the series. But we played great defense, and we are proud of that.”

Mitchell left the game in the second half with left foot soreness. He returned, but played sporadically.

”I feel fine,” he said. ”Think I just stubbed my toe. Nothing major.”

Rudy Gobert scored 14 points, and Joe Ingles and Jae Crowder each added 13 for the Jazz.

The Thunder recovered from a 16-4 deficit to tie it at 25 at the end of the first quarter. Oklahoma City led 54-48 at halftime behind 20 points from George and 14 from Westbrook.

George hit his seventh 3-pointer to push Oklahoma City’s lead to 79-66. He hit a deep 2-pointer to close the quarter and give the Thunder an 81-72 lead.

Alex Abrines hit two 3-pointers early in the fourth quarter to give Oklahoma City a 92-80 lead and force Utah to call timeout. The Thunder held off a surge in the final minute.

TIP-INS

Jazz: Mitchell made his first four shots, but just one of six the rest of the first half. … Made just eight of 22 shots in the second quarter. … Dante Exum and Alec Burks each scored 10 points.

Thunder: G Corey Brewer, who was questionable with a right knee sprain, started. … Anthony scored his 1 Jarvis Landry Jersey Youth ,700th playoff point. … Oklahoma City made its first 17 free throws and didn’t miss one until the final minute.

QUOTABLE

Mitchell on why he was taken out of the game in the fourth quarter: ”I was just limping, so the trainers saw me limping and they thought I needed to come out, but I was just being a baby, so I’m good.”

STAT LINES

George’s outburst is significant because in Oklahoma City’s five-game playoff series with Houston last season, no Thunder player other than Westbrook scored more than 20 points in a game. Westbrook averaged 37.4 points in the series, but no other Thunder player averaged more than 11.6.

UP NEXT

Game 2 will be Wednesday night in Oklahoma City.

And by the way, the Eagles defensive line will be quite scary in 2018:Here鈥檚 the Eagles鈥?new third-down pass rush: Michael Bennett and Fletcher Cox on the inside, Derek Barnett and Brandon Graham on the outside.— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) March 7 Cheap Troy Niklas Jersey , 2018Bennett has been one of the NFL's top pass-rushers since joining the Seahawks in 2013. The three-time Pro Bowler was instrumental in helping Seattle win a Super Bowl 48 championship. He's registered at least seven sacks in five of the last six seasons, and will only make Philly's elite defense that much scarier. For Seattle, changes were widely expected following the team's first failure to make the playoffs for the first time in the Russell Wilson era. The Seahawks owned the league's best defense from 2012-15 Ozzie Albies Atlanta Braves Jersey , but injuries to key players like Bennett, Earl Thomas and Richard Sherman made the team less dominant in 2016 and '17. Wilcox played in 12 games for the Steelers in 2017 after Pittsburgh acquired him from Tampa Bay last September for late-round picks in both the 2018 and 2019 drafts. Wilcox had one interception with Pittsburgh while playing primarily as a reserve.

The Steelers have overhauled their defensive backfield in the offseason. Wilcox is the third safety to be released by Pittsburgh in the past two months, joining Mike Mitchell and Robert Golden.

The Steelers drafted two safeties over the weekend Cheap Robert Griffin III Jersey , taking Terrell Edmunds out of Virginia Tech in the first round and Penn State's Marcus Allen in the fifth.

He just wanted everyone to do what they could to help out, figuring that would be enough. It certainly was.“I know everyone was thinking about A.B. not being out there and trying to fill those shoes, but you can’t fill those shoes,” Roethlisberger said. “I just tried to tell them: ‘Don’t try to fill them, just try to be the best you can be.'”Roethlisberger threw for 226 yards and two touchdowns in the first game since Brown injured his calf, and the Steelers clinched a first-round playoff bye with a 34-6 win over the Texans. I made some plays on third down when I needed to. It was literally a total team effort.”The Steelers led 20-0 at halftime after taking advantage of two turnovers by the Texans. Seventy-two-year-old Susan Collesidis was never a football fan until she heard Carson Wentz talk about his faith.

Then she was hooked on the Philadelphia Eagles.

When Wentz found out his newest fan was fighting an advanced stage of cancer Authentic Braden Smith Jersey , he sent her an encouraging message with inspirational Bible verses.

”How much joy I get from watching him and his team play supernatural football every week,” she said after reading it.

Two weeks later, Collesidis lost her battle with cancer the night before Thanksgiving.

”The message meant so much to Susan because she admired Carson as a person and believer more than a football player,” son-in-law Doug Horton said. ”He’s the reason she started caring about sports and she couldn’t wait to watch the Eagles every week.”

Wentz isn’t playing in the Super Bowl against the New England Patriots because he tore his ACL in Week 14. But backup quarterback Nick Foles also is a ”brother in Christ” and one of the leaders in a locker room filled with guys who have formed a strong bond because of their faith.

”It truly is a brotherhood,” Pro Bowl tight end Zach Ertz said. ”Those guys are holding me accountable. Off the field, I’m holding them accountable. We truly care about each other, we truly care about the growth that each individual has in the word, as believers, as well as friends and family. There are a lot of guys who are truly trying to boost me up and keep me focused on the main thing, which is obviously the word. …”

Christian players openly expressing their faith is nothing new in the NFL: Reggie White, Kurt Warner, Tim Tebow, Ray Lewis and Russell Wilson among many others. But these Eagles are an unusually close-knit group.

”There is a stronger connection here,” said defensive end Steven Means, who played for three other teams. ”It’s another level because we push each other in certain areas that we are flawed at and open ourselves up to each other. We text each other throughout the day making sure that everybody is on the right path and doing the right thing.”

Torrey Smith played with Lewis on the Super Bowl champion Baltimore Ravens in 2012. They had a solid core of Christian players who used their faith for inspiration during their journey. Smith also spent two years in San Francisco before the wide receiver came to Philadelphia this season. He said it’s different here.

”I’ve been lucky to be part of three organizations that do have a very strong Christian presence,” Smith said. ”The difference here is a lot of younger guys lead.”

It starts with Wentz, the face of the franchise.

Wentz went on a mission trip to Haiti last May with former teammate Jordan Matthews and a group led by Kyle Horner, lead pastor of The Connect Church. He delivered a sermon a month later at a church back home in North Dakota and launched his Audience of One Foundation in July. Wentz and several teammates even created a devotional video series for the Bible app.

Four days before the season opener, Wentz and teammates Trey Burton and Stefen Wisniewski spoke at a faith event in front of a crowd of 2,000 people who sat in the rain for a couple hours to hear their favorite players share their testimony.

But before he had an MVP-caliber season and led the Eagles from worst to first, Wentz received plenty of criticism from some media and fans because he openly talked about his faith on social media .

He wasn’t deterred.

”Jesus was persecuted everywhere he went http://www.giantsauthorizedshops.com/authentic-cody-latimer-jersey ,” Wentz said. ”So if Jesus, who is our ultimate example, endured that, then I can endure a couple tweets. I can endure a little riff-raff here and there.”

A large group of players meet for Bible study on Thursdays and hold a study for couples on Mondays. They get together for prayer and devotionals the night before games. They’ve even gathered for baptisms in some unusual places.

In October 2016, Burton and pastor Ted Winsley baptized six players in a cold tub at the team’s practice facility.

”It was crazy,” said Winsley, the team’s longtime chaplain. ”The guys were just hungry, wanting their lives changed.”

Before a Thursday night game at Carolina last October, second-year pro Marcus Johnson was baptized in a hotel pool.

”Since I’ve come to Philly, I’ve grown in my faith so much,” Johnson said. ”As a rookie last year coming in, you always hear about the locker room and how dysfunctional it can be and people playing for money and this and that, but when I got here, everyone was so supportive and I knew it was something special.”

Having strong faith doesn’t make players immune to adversity, but it helps them deal with it. The Eagles (15-3) have overcome numerous injuries to important players on their way to winning the NFC championship.

Nine-time Pro Bowl left tackle Jason Peters, running back/return specialist Darren Sproles, special-teams captain Chris Maragos and kicker Caleb Sturgis suffered season-ending injuries along with Wentz and Jordan Hicks, the playmaking linebacker and quarterback on defense.

Instead of anger and resentment, they’ve leaned on their faith to maintain a positive attitude.

”Character is always revealed in times of testing,” said Horner, who pastors several players. ”For these men http://www.coltsauthorizedshops.com/authentic-nyheim-hines-jersey , Christ is not a crutch to lean upon, he is the foundation which their life is built upon. For them, faith is not an intellectual acknowledgement of truth, but a day-by-day expression of their love for God. This is where it all starts.”

Walking in the freshly cut, bright green grass on Wednesday while directing the Minnesota Vikings through their first practice of training camp was, naturally, the best place for Mike Zimmer to be.

"It takes a little bit of the sting away," Zimmer said, pausing to recover from a crack in his voice, "of losing a great friend, a great coach, a good man."

The Vikings and the rest of the NFL were stunned on Sunday when Sparano, their tough-loving offensive line coach, died suddenly at age 56 of heart disease .

"It'll be a hard few days, but we'll get through it and we'll get back to work and do the things that we do," Zimmer said, "and that's what he'd want us to do."

After two days of workouts for rookies and others selected for early duty either due to relative inexperience or a recent injury, the Vikings will take a break Friday to attend Sparano's funeral in the Twin Cities area. Then the entire team will convene for the first full practice on Saturday.

"The most important thing is when you're a family, the family is what helps you get through it," said general manager Rick Spielman Cheap John Kelly Jersey , who like Zimmer had to stop for composure several times during an interview session with reporters.

As evidenced by and during the run last season to the NFC championship game, the Vikings from the top down have forged an environment as tightly knit as any point in their history. This is an organization that has seen plenty of dysfunction over 57 years. The solidarity comes in handy at a tragic time like the unexpected loss of life, but it can also intensify the grief.

"We had quite a relationship," said Zimmer, who was on the same staff as Sparano for the last four of his 13 seasons with the Dallas Cowboys. "His wife, Jeanette, I told her the other day, she reminds me a lot of my wife. She's the sweetest lady."

Zimmer's wife, Vikki, passed away in 2009. His father, Bill, died in 2015. So he's had unfortunate experience in straddling the fine line between proper mourning and pressing on. What's clear to the Vikings, at least, is that Sparano would pick the latter.

"If Tony knew we were having this talk about him, I could just hear him in his very endearing way what his opinion on this would be," Spielman said.

With darkened sunglasses he wore since a teenage accident with hot oil from a deep fryer while working at a restaurant, Sparano had an intimidating presence. A significant portion of the screaming audible during a typical Vikings practice came from Sparano, who as a fellow understudy of former Cowboys head coach and Pro Football Hall of Fame member Bill Parcells came from the same hard-nosed mold as Zimmer.

"He was a lot like me, probably the only person in the building who was grumpier than I was," Zimmer said. "But he really cared about his players. I've sat in with him in offensive line rooms a lot, and he had a way of poking the stick at the guys and then putting his arms around him."

Sparano's daughter was married in Texas just 2陆 weeks ago. He told Zimmer last month he felt his health was the best it'd been. Since Zimmer hired Sparano in 2016 to help instill a tougher mentality in the offensive linemen Authentic Jeremiah Attaochu Jersey , the two early-to-arrive-and-late-to-leave coaches spoke often, and not just about football. As a former NFL head coach, Sparano served as a sounding board for Zimmer, as was their shared mentor, Parcells, the source of many of Sparano's customary colloquialisms.

"Instead of saying, 'It's one or the other,'" Zimmer recalled, "he'd say, 'It's a horse apiece.'"

That could've been applied, for example, to an assessment of a couple of potential draftees. Spielman fondly remembered Sparano's thoroughness, taking the time to study video of a tackle prospect when he played guard in a years-old game.

"I've never been around a coach who put in so much time and energy into everything he did," Spielman said.

There was a soft side to Sparano, too, when it came to his family, whether immediate or football. Zimmer smiled as he recounted playing in Spielman's charity golf tournament on the course where Sparano's house was, not far from the team's old headquarters.

"We get to whatever hole he was on, and he'd have a big cooler out there with beer and wine," Zimmer said. "He gave me a bottle of wine so we could play the rest of the course. That's Tony. He was a genuine person who cared an awful lot about a lot of people."
